Destined to heal within is a cosy drama about a young girl going through her fair share of turmoils in life. What I liked the most is that the upheavals in her life are common challenges we all face or have faced. This is what makes it so relatable and perhaps more realistic.

Uniqueness

This is a simple tale of a simple girl and finding love in different forms. It is a story of how she copes with the various traumas she faces and finally grows out of it as a new person. In that sense, while there are not a lot of unique elements in this story, the overall journey that the protagonist takes is the unique path we all have taken in our lives which is how we grow in our own ways and define our own uniqueness.

Predictability

The story was linear for the most part and did not show any twists until the book’s second half. This is also why you get hooked on the second part, and the story goes by quickly. However, that doesn’t mean the book was monotonous. On the contrary, in her own unique way, the author maintained the reader’s attention even without twists that most authors rely on.

What I liked the most is that the upheavals in her life are common challenges we all face or have faced.

Writing Style

The writing style is simple in that it feels like the author wrote the story exactly as she imagined. In some cases, conversations between childhood best friends seemed far too formal. However, this kind of simplicity also made the story so easy to read. Perhaps this is the author’s secret through which she was able to captivate her readers despite having very few plot twists.

Cost Worth

The paperback edition is around INR 269, while the kindle edition stands at INR 59. The book is also available on KU. In this regard, the book is quite affordable.

Entertaining

The story is cosy and runs at a brisk pace. While the plot twists got me engaged in the latter part of the book, it doesn’t mean that I had to push myself to read it at any point in time.

The Review

7 Score

Lamiya is a new writer and has entered the world of publishing with her debut novel. She shows her potential as a writer through this novel and has an incredible journey ahead of her. It will surely be worth watching. While the story in itself is not a rollercoaster ride, it can be compared to a merry-go-round. Simple, cosy and engaging.

PROS

  • You are looking for an easy to read book
  • You like reading cosy romance drama.
